How GFOS Launched AI in 8 Weeks, Not 18 Months

By embedding Visier, GFOS transformed from a legacy software provider of nearly 39 years into an intelligent, data-centric decision-making platform that actively steers people, processes, and machines rather than just documenting and processing them.

The 8-week sprint allowed them to debut a tangible, working product—not just slides—at the critical ZP Europe conference in Cologne. This resulted in unprecedented engagement, with lineups at their booth and 3–4x more interest than previous years. The success drove an immediate repackaging of their commercial offerings into standardized tiers and increased investment in their sales force.

The challenge:

GFOS, a German workforce management software provider, needed to launch AI and analytics capabilities at ZP Europe in eight weeks, but building them in-house would have taken 12 to 18 months.

Why Visier Workforce AI:

GFOS chose Visier to avoid the risk and complexity of a custom build, citing Visier’s fit for its line of business, a strong team match, and the ability to use U.S. and European time zones to speed up development.

Key outcomes:

GFOS cut time-to-market from 18 months to eight weeks, debuted a live product with Vee at ZP Europe that drew three to four times more interest than in previous years, and then restructured its offerings into standardized tiers and increased its sales investment.

With Visier Embedded, GFOS has:

  • Reduced time-to-market from 18 months to 8 weeks

  • Generated 3-4x more lead interest at ZP Europe

  • Successfully deployed German-ready AI in days, not months

THE CHALLENGE

Beyond Workforce Management: How GFOS Intelligence Became a Data-Centric Decision Platform

Following a major investment from Riverside in 2024, GFOS faced critical strategic decisions around four key goals: accelerating cloud-first transformation, systematically expanding product innovation and AI capabilities, scaling go-to-market internationally, and maintaining rapid product innovation cycles.

The company needed to launch sophisticated AI and analytics capabilities at the upcoming ZP Europe conference in Cologne—only 8 weeks away. Building this in-house would have taken 12–18 months, a timeline the fast-moving, consolidating market would not forgive.

As CEO Dr. Ignace van Meenen explained, “This industry is consolidating. Market share is more and more divided amongst the top handful of competitors. There is a growing need to invest and be ready for customers who only want to deal with those able to manage complexity and survive consolidation.”

The timing was particularly challenging—the project had to be executed during July and August, traditionally “away from the desk beach months” in Europe, while simultaneously launching their GFOS 2025 platform.

THE SOLUTION

GFOS Intelligence: The 8-Week Build That Redefined Workforce Management

GFOS chose Visier to avoid the risk and complexity of a custom build. The decision came down to three critical factors:

  1. Visier was best suited for their line of business

  2. There was a strong team match between both companies

  3. They could leverage two time zones (US and Europe) to accelerate development

Dr. van Meenen described the approach: “We had to leverage every tool we had and have a very concise, disciplined approach with daily check-ins, no long loops, very clear language, very clear expression of thoughts and feedback loops so that all people involved knew exactly what they needed to do.”

Leveraging Visier’s pre-built Semantic Layer, the teams collaborated across US and European time zones to create a continuous development cycle. This allowed GFOS to simultaneously integrate Visier’s award-winning white-label analytics suite and genAI assistant (Vee), ensuring the product was tangible and demo-ready for the traditionally skeptical European market.

It was essential that it was a live, working product, not just a presentation to showcase the power of their platform in real-time.

THE OUTCOME

1. The 2-month sprint under pressureGFOS compressed a 4–6 quarter roadmap into 8 weeks to hit a critical conference deadline.

2. AI-first in a consolidating marketGFOS launched genAI (Vee) and Analytics together, positioning itself as a data-centric platform.

3. Cross-border developmentLeveraged dual time zones (EU/US) to create a 24-hour development cycle for continuous development and rapid feedback loops.

4. Immediate commercial impactThe successful launch led to record booth traffic, 3–4x more interest, immediate restructuring of product packages, and increased sales investment.
