Outsmarting the Status Quo: Why Regional HR Leaders Are Done Waiting
Boon Huat Lee recaps Outsmart Singapore 2026, where leaders from PepsiCo, Kenvue, Micron, and LinkedIn shared how APAC HR is moving from reporting to action.

Outsmart Singapore 2026 at The Westin Singapore gave me the clearest signal yet: HR leaders across Asia-Pacific are done waiting.
They are done waiting for the "right time" to fix their data, done waiting on multi-year transformation roadmaps, and done letting HR sit outside core business conversations. That urgency was palpable across the 100-person crowd of HR leaders.
From Gagan Bhargava’s keynote on Schneider Electric’s global workforce transformation to PETRONAS’s candid fireside chat on AI-driven HR transformation, the message from the stage was unanimous: the era of passive reporting is officially over.
Reflecting on our sessions, four core takeaways stood out:
Trusted Data Foundation: Conversations with leadership are about business impact, not debating spreadsheets.
Connect Talent to Outcomes: Speak the language of the C-suite: profit, margin, capacity, and growth.
Operationalize AI: With speed, scale, and accuracy.
No Excuses. Start Now: You don’t need a multi-year, complex overhaul before you begin. Now is the right time to start building momentum.
Build a trusted data foundation
Historically, legacy enterprise data practices forced organizations to spend 80% of their time preparing data and only 5% acting on it. When we surveyed our delegates, 17% admitted they are still stuck in firefighting mode, manually pulling reports again and again.
Another 56% reported feeling trapped in the "dashboard gap," relying on retrospective indicators that are like driving while looking through the rear-view mirror.
Instead of asking "What metrics do we measure?", we must ask "What is the data telling us so we can act?" The 22% of delegates at Outsmart who are scaling real impact have moved past this gap.
A clean, trusted data foundation turns the traditional ratio upside down, allowing teams to spend 80% of their time executing decisions based on trusted insights.
Connect talent directly to business outcomes

To earn a strategic seat at the C-suite table, HR and Talent leaders must speak the language of profit, margin, capacity, and growth. As VP of Strategy, Technology and Workforce Transformation at MicronCher, Whee Sim noted during the event:
"People Analytics is now just a foundation and not the finish line. People Analytics is the fuel to ignite work and workforce transformation."
This shift requires moving beyond visibility to driving active business influence. Director HRBP at LinkedIn Christina Southgate put the challenge directly:
"Insights is one thing that Visier is fantastic in terms of helping us get access and real-time insight. But then, the question is: how are you using that insight to drive and to influence business decisions?"
We saw this in action from our customer panel. At Kenvue, Head of People for Australia and New Zealand & Enterprise Functions APAC, Carlos Murillo Vendries shared how they democratized data for frontline leaders and changed standard HR metrics into business language—reframing "internal mobility" into active talent growth.
The core question they asked was one that I’m still thinking about: "Are we promoting and moving talent internally?"
Meanwhile, Khun Teerawat Udomyingcharoen, Head of Talent Management APAC at PepsiCo outlined how they are preparing for 2030 by shifting from static data review to proactive talent storytelling to identify future skill gaps and guide executive strategy.
Operationalize AI at speed, scale, and accuracy

Almost everyone is experimenting with AI. In fact, creating a basic AI agent in a sandbox environment takes just two or three hours. But taking that agent from a fun experiment into full enterprise production is where most organizations hit a wall.
Moving AI into production requires three non-negotiables:
Accuracy and Trust: Ensuring outputs are grounded, governance-controlled, and completely free from hallucinations or security breaches.
Speed: Moving rapidly from proof-of-concept to real-world execution without getting bogged down in years of IT integration.
Scale and Governance: Democratizing insights safely so every people leader, not just HR analysts or C-suite executives, can make data-backed decisions.
You don't need the exact decimal point. You need enough trusted, accurate information to move directionally fast.
Get started today, and remember action beats perfection
The biggest barrier holding organizations back isn't technology. It's the inertia of waiting for pristine data. As I told the audience: you don't go to the gym because you're already fit; you go to get fit.
You don't need a multi-year overhaul to begin. Target 90-day quick wins, solve immediate business challenges with the data you have today, and build momentum. Directional progress today always beats theoretical perfection tomorrow.
Ready to outsmart the status quo?
Business execution isn't slowing down. HR owns the talent, managers own the outcomes, and Visier connects the two.
