Humanocracy: Building organizations as amazingly capable as those inside them

Today’s organizations need to be more resilient, creative and engaging than ever before. Yet all too often they’re inertial, incremental and uninspiring. To close the gap we need data—on employee attitudes, skills and productivity, on leadership traits and effectiveness, on the talent pipeline and employee churn, on the climate for innovation and the capacity to change. But data by itself will not be enough to create organizations that are fit for the future and fit for human beings.

To make progress we have to face facts. The top-down, rule-driven bureaucratic structures that predominate in most organizations are now a competitive liability. We need to uninstall bureaucracy and rebuild our organizations around new, post-bureaucratic principles: openness, meritocracy, community, experimentation and ownership. The goal: organizations that are as adaptable, innovative and inspiring as the people inside of them.

Is this radical makeover possible? Absolutely. There are already role models—complex businesses that boast a 1:400 span of control, global giants that have done away with middle management, and progressive organizations that have turned every employee into an entrepreneur. The vanguard show what’s possible when you’re willing to challenge 100-year old assumptions and creatively “hack management.”

In his provocative and practical talk, Gary will show you how to kick start an HR revolution that will free up every human being to be their best and do their best.

People Analytics Expert Panel: Transforming HR with People Insights

Moderated by Al Adamsen, Founder of Global People Analytics Network and Co-Founder of Insight222

For the past 20 years, HR has focused on restructuring itself to transform from administrators to strategic business partners -- with the aim to drive better business outcomes. Yet, HR Transformation has not achieved this goal -- largely because the technology supporting this transformation focused on better operations, not better strategy. This panel of people analytics industry experts will discuss how enabling data-driven decision making is on the critical path to achieving strategic HR that drives business performance.

Al Adamsen is a globally recognized thought leader, speaker, and advisor on talent strategy, people analytics, workforce planning, business transformation, and simply how people measurement and analytics affects worker experiences and organizational culture. He’s the Founder & Executive Director of the Global People Analytics Network and People Analytics & Future of Work (PAFOW) Event Series, as well as Co-Founder of Insight222, home of the People Analytics Program.
