Build Engineer – Vancouver, Canada

Visier is looking for an experienced Build Engineer with a solid understanding of industry best practices and hands-on experience in building a continuous development and deployment framework. What you'll be doing...

  • Design and implement a continuous development framework in support of our SaaS business model
  • Work closely with architects and senior developers to define proper modularization of our production binaries to enable fine-grained updates and targeted deployments
  • Develop and provide tooling that enables developers to easily integrate new components and tests into the build framework and to manage and monitor builds, tests, and deployments while providing visibility of the lineage from source to deployed components
  • Innovate and create a highly-efficient, easily usable, and readily extendable development & deployment framework

What you'll bring to the table...

  • 5+ years experience in a related role, with a degree in Computer Science (or equivalent field)
  • Deep understanding of industry best practices and hands-on experience in designing and building a continuous development & deployment framework
  • Proven experience in end-to-end delivery (from design to implementation and roll-out) of a continuous development framework for cloud solutions
  • Hands-on experience with Jenkins, TeamCity, Ant, Maven, & Cloud Deployments (e.g. AWS)
  • Hands-on experience with cross-platform development (e.g. Mac, Linux, Windows)
  • Knowledge of Java, Bash, Linux, and distributed revision control tools (e.g. Mercurial)
  • Keen interest and experience with SBT and the Play Framework, or other build systems
  • Deep understanding of and ability to apply industry best practices specific to full automation and integration of builds, tests, and deployments
