If you could only bring two things to HR Tech World Congress in Paris, what would they be?
My answer: A pack of throat lozenges and really, really comfortable (but stylish!) shoes.
With over 4000 attendees from more than 80 countries and a dizzying number of sessions, there will be a lot of walking, listening… and talking.
Here are my “top five” sessions to attend, listed in the order in which they take place:
Smart Simplicity in a Complex World
Tuesday, Oct. 27 @ 8:55
It is hard to beat the quality of the research put out by Boston Consulting Group. In this keynote session, Yves Morieux shares the Smart Simplicity approach, which aims to simplify the otherwise increasingly complex nature of today’s organizations. How can HR support Smart Simplicity? Attend to find out.
The Employee Engagement and Feedback Market: A New Category of HR Software Tuesday, Oct. 27 @ 12:00
Planning an employee engagement survey? Don’t miss this session on the iRecruit stage by Josh Bersin, Principal and Founder of Bersin by Deloitte. He will uncover why the traditional annual engagement survey cannot keep up with modern workforce trends, and give examples of how real-time employee engagement and feedback has helped transform companies.
HR Tech World Influencer’s Panel
Tuesday, Oct. 27 @ 14:15
Tired of wading through the vendor hype? Disillusioned by vaporware? You can expect some honest and good assessments of HR technology in this session, organized and moderated by leading HR technology expert Naomi Bloom (Managing Partner Bloom & Wallace). Panelists include leading thinkers in our space, including Holger Mueller (VP & Principal Analyst, Constellation Research) and Phil Wainewright (Cloud Business Evangelist & Industry Analyst, Diginomica).
An Interview with Sir Richard Branson
Tuesday, Oct. 27 @ 16:00
Known for his crazy (inspired?) publicity stunts and unique take on employee engagement, the guest keynote by Sir Richard Branson promises to be an event highlight. As the founder of Virgin Group writes in this blog post: “We all need to work smarter, not longer.” His talk on the future of work and the role of people and technology is definitely not to be missed.
The Convergence of Full Time and Contingent in a Global Workforce
Wednesday, Oct. 28th @ 12:15
Part of the intriguingly named “UnConference” track, this session focuses on a topic that should be top of mind with HR: the increasing use of contingent labor. We live in an aging world, where the new workforce is not growing quickly enough to replace those retiring. As a result CEOs are increasingly worried about finding the key skills they need to meet their business objectives. In this session, HR.com founder Debbie McGrath promises to “challenge the audience to rethink their labor pools to be more dynamic and flexible.”
That’s it! I look forward to meeting with some of HR’s top talent in Europe next week. What sessions are on your agenda? Share them in the comments below or with us on Twitter!
