Opening Remarks, John Schwarz, CEO & Founder, Visier
Today, people make decisions based on their individual experience or their capacity or willingness to research. In the future, Big Data will inform, predict, and model the best potential outcome for every decision people are faced with. At the heart of this Big Data revolution is an organization’s people strategy platform, powered by workforce analytics and planning.
Keynote: Four Eras of Analytics in Workforce and Elsewhere, Dr. Thomas H. Davenport
There have been four different approaches for applying analytics to business over the last half century. While most organizations pursuing workforce analytics haven’t experienced all four, they are clearly moving through the same sequence as other types of analytics have. Many workforce analytics initiatives employ Analytics 1.0 (artisanal analytics), while a few are actively pursuing Analytics 4.0 (the cognitive era). Each of these eras requires different management of both analytics and the underlying data. In this presentation Tom Davenport will describe the attributes of each era, the drivers of change, and the valuable lessons that each era provides. He will provide examples of both workforce analytics and other types, addressing both the technology and human issues with which organizations are wrestling. The presentation will furnish both motivation and guidelines for companies wanting to move to the next era.
