Since 2008, Jim McDonald has served as VP of total rewards for Meijer, Inc., an organization with 75,000 employees, 240 stores, five distribution and four manufacturing facilities. McDonald has 30 years of experience as an HR professional and business partner, leading large retail and wholesale companies in the areas of compensation, health and welfare, retirement, HR analytics, talent acquisition, employee relations, and training and development.
Prior to his work at Meijer, Inc., McDonald served as VP of corporate and field HR at C & S Wholesale Grocers, SVP of human resources for Movie Gallery/Hollywood Entertainment and VP of human resources at Ahold USA.
McDonald has led initiatives for recognition as one of The Most Admired Companies by Fortune magazine and was voted most innovative HR Professional of the Year by SHRM in 1994.
